Is TryVote affiliated with INEC?
No. TryVote Nigeria is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by INEC. References to INEC are for civic-information and election-context purposes.
Is this an official election?
No. TryVote runs unofficial mock presidential and governorship votes. A TryVote submission has no legal effect and does not replace voting in an official election.
Can Nigerians in the diaspora participate?
Yes. Nigerians outside Nigeria can choose Nigerian Diaspora / Outside Nigeria and participate in TryVote’s unofficial presidential simulation. Diaspora responses are counted separately from Nigeria’s 36 states and FCT for location analysis, while still contributing to the overall TryVote presidential total. No governorship ballot is shown for the diaspora option. This does not mean diaspora voting is permitted in Nigeria’s official elections.
Is my vote anonymous?
TryVote is designed not to ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth or government ID in order to cast a mock vote. Public results are shown as aggregated counts, not as individual voter profiles.
Why do I need to confirm I am 18 or older?
TryVote is intended for people of Nigerian voting age. The age check is a self-attestation. We do not ask for your exact age, date of birth or ID as part of that confirmation.
Can I vote more than once?
TryVote uses browser markers, short-lived security checks and rate limits to reduce repeat and automated submissions. No anonymous online system can perfectly guarantee one human equals one vote, so results should be read with that limitation in mind.
Are TryVote results scientific opinion polls?
No. TryVote results reflect voluntary participation by people who choose to use the platform. They are not a representative sample of all Nigerian voters and should not be treated as scientific polling or a prediction of official election results.
How are percentages calculated?
Percentages are based on accepted mock votes recorded on TryVote for the relevant race or result view. They can change as more people participate.
Where do candidate names come from?
TryVote’s presidential ballot follows INEC’s final list of 18 candidates, published on 12 September 2026. Governorship ballots display their verification status and may change when INEC publishes final lists, issues amendments or gives effect to court orders.
Why is there no FCT governorship ballot?
The Federal Capital Territory does not elect a state governor. People selecting FCT therefore participate in the presidential simulation but are not shown a governorship ballot.
